Your Wedding Vision Deserves More Than a Package

Before we suggest a single dish, we want to know your story. Not your headcount. Not your budget tier. Your story. What your wedding is going to feel like, who your guests are, what matters most to you about the food your people will eat on one of the most significant days of your life.
That is how every wedding conversation starts at Kalei's Kitchenette. And it is the reason our couples consistently tell us they felt heard in a way that other caterers never made them feel.

We Have Been There
We planned our own wedding. That experience shapes everything about how we work with couples.
We know the pressure of trying to make every decision correctly. We know the vulnerability of sharing a vision with a vendor and hoping they actually care about it. We know how much it means when someone on the other side of the table treats your wedding like it matters, because it does.
That is why the first thing we do when a couple reaches out is congratulate them on their engagement. It sounds simple. But in an industry that can feel transactional, a genuine acknowledgment of what this moment means goes a long way.
Your Vision Becomes the Menu
Our discovery process is built around understanding your specific event before we build anything. We ask about your vibe and aesthetic, your guests and their backgrounds, cultural dishes that are non-negotiable, dietary restrictions we need to accommodate, and how familiar your crowd is with Hawaiian cuisine.
The answers to those questions shape the entire proposal. If your family has deep Filipino roots and the lechon is the centerpiece of every major celebration, we build around it. If your guests have never tried Hawaiian food, we design a menu that introduces the cuisine through familiar, approachable flavors like Huli Huli Chicken and Spam Musubi alongside bolder options for adventurous eaters.
Chef Andy is a Lahaina native who spent years in five-star hotels and authentic luau operations in Hawaii before bringing that experience to San Diego in 2018. When you book Kalei's Kitchenette for your wedding, you are getting genuine Hawaiian cuisine built around your vision, not a generic package with your name on it.

What Full-Service Actually Means
When we say full-service wedding catering, we mean our team handles all food buffet setup, service throughout your event, and complete buffet table breakdown and cleanup when the evening ends. Your guests are served by a professional, hospitable team that knows the menu, knows the allergens, and knows how to take care of people.
We are food specialists. We do not provide DJ services, party rentals, or florals. What we do is partner seamlessly with every other vendor on your team. Wedding planners consistently tell us we are among the easiest vendors they work with, because we show up organized, communicative, and ready to coordinate.
A Promise We Make to Every Couple
One of the things we are known for is making sure the couple actually eats at their own wedding. Chef Andy has a specific protocol for this. He coordinates with your photographer and planner to find the right moment in your timeline, and he makes sure you are served and can enjoy the food you chose for your guests.
You should not have to chase down a plate at your own wedding. We make sure you do not have to.
If you are planning a wedding in Rancho Peñasquitos, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, La Jolla, or anywhere across North County San Diego. Tell us about your wedding and your vision. We are listening.
