San Diego Hula Academy
a traditional hālau (school) focused on hula, tahitian and ukulele. We strive to teach technique/basic steps; protocol; Hawaiian language through 'oli (chants) and mele (song); and Hawaiian history and culture through mo'o'olelo (story telling). We welcome all levels, ages and genders. We offer workshops in lei making (fresh and artificial), lei hulu (feather), ipu 'ole and 'heke, and hula for children and adults.
Napua Ilima
a hula and Polynesian dance group based in San Diego, California, under the direction of Mahealani Taisague. They perform hula and Tahitian dances, sharing Hawaiian and Polynesian culture through dance. Na Pua 'Ilima actively participates in events like the Pacific Islander Festival Association (PIFA) and the San Diego County Fair.
