Founded by Chef Andy Mangiduyos, a native of Lahaina, Maui, Kalei's Kitchenette has become a beloved staple in Rancho Peñasquitos, offering a unique blend of Hawaiian flavors and Pacific Rim cuisine. The anniversary event will feature a variety of cultural performances, family-friendly activities, and delicious food, making it an event not to be missed.

We are thrilled to announce that the Buddhist Temple of San Diego Taiko will be performing at our anniversary celebration! BTSD Taiko is a dynamic intergenerational group from the Buddhist Temple of San Diego, bringing together families and community members to share the powerful art of taiko drumming. Founded in 1986 and revitalized in 2007, they have been spreading the teachings of mindfulness, oneness, and gratitude through their captivating performances.
We are excited to feature the enchanting hula group, Na Pua 'Ilima, at our anniversary celebration! Under the blessings of the late Kumu Hula Kehaulani Wilson, Mahealani Taisague continues the beautiful legacy of Hula Halau o Na Pua ‘Ilima through love, knowledge, and integrity. For 34 years, Mahealani has carried forward the traditions and style of this multi-award winning Hula Halau. Currently, she is studying under the ‘Uniki of Kumu Hula Kehaulani’s original Halau, Ilima Hula Studio, led by Kumu Hula Lani Girl Kaleiki.
Our dear friends at Three Treasures Kung Fu and Lion Dance have been part of our ohana even before we opened our storefront. Their live lion dance performances are a thrilling display of energy and tradition that you won't want to miss! The lion dance is more than just a spectacle; it's a cultural celebration symbolizing good luck and prosperity. As part of the tradition, we encourage you to bring cash to feed the dragon, which is a way to show appreciation and invite good fortune. Red envelopes will be provided at the event for your convenience. Participating is optional but a great way to bring some extra luck into your life!
We are thrilled to announce that the San Diego Hula Academy will be joining us again at our anniversary celebration! Founded in 2018, the academy has grown from a humble beginning of 600 square feet and a handful of students to a flourishing community. Representing the rich lineage of Lehua Kawaikapuokalani Hewett and Kūhai Hālau O Kawenaokalā’īokalani Pā ‘Ōlapa Kahiko, the academy offers a rich array of cultural performances including Hawaiian hula, Tahitian dance, ukulele, and Hawaiian music. We are honored to have them share their talents and cultural heritage with us on this special day.
Chef Andy Mangiduyos
Chef Andy Mangiduyos is a culinary entrepreneur with a deep appreciation for Pacific Rim Cuisine. Growing up on the island of Maui, he completed his degree at the University of Hawaii Maui before embarking on a career in the hospitality industry. He honed his culinary skills at esteemed hotels and resorts in Hawaii and California before establishing his own catering business in 2018. Chef Andy is renowned for his exceptional culinary creations, personalized menus, and the use of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. He is committed to delivering a unique and memorable experience to every customer.

We are excited to introduce Lau Lau, a traditional Hawaiian dish of meat wrapped in leaves and steamed, for the anniversary event. Our version features pork wrapped in leaves and aluminum foil, seasoned with Hawaiian salt, and slow-cooked to perfection. This special dish is a must-try and will be available exclusively for the celebration.

Safety and Support
The San Diego Police Department's Northeastern Division will assist with traffic flow and ensure the safety of the event. Local dignitaries and representatives from the office of Jim Desmond will present a Proclamation recognizing the restaurant's community efforts during the Lahaina fire, highlighting the strong community support and engagement.
