Highlights and Special Moments

We are thrilled to announce that the Buddhist Temple of San Diego Taiko will be performing at our anniversary celebration! BTSD Taiko is a dynamic intergenerational group from the Buddhist Temple of San Diego, bringing together families and community members to share the powerful art of taiko drumming. Founded in 1986 and revitalized in 2007, they have been spreading the teachings of mindfulness, oneness, and gratitude through their captivating performances.

We are excited to feature the enchanting hula group, Na Pua 'Ilima, at our anniversary celebration! Under the blessings of the late Kumu Hula Kehaulani Wilson, Mahealani Taisague continues the beautiful legacy of Hula Halau o Na Pua ‘Ilima through love, knowledge, and integrity. For 34 years, Mahealani has carried forward the traditions and style of this multi-award winning Hula Halau. Currently, she is studying under the ‘Uniki of Kumu Hula Kehaulani’s original Halau, Ilima Hula Studio, led by Kumu Hula Lani Girl Kaleiki.

Our dear friends at Three Treasures Kung Fu and Lion Dance have been part of our ohana even before we opened our storefront. Their live lion dance performances are a thrilling display of energy and tradition that you won't want to miss! The lion dance is more than just a spectacle; it's a cultural celebration symbolizing good luck and prosperity. As part of the tradition, we encourage you to bring cash to feed the dragon, which is a way to show appreciation and invite good fortune. Red envelopes will be provided at the event for your convenience. Participating is optional but a great way to bring some extra luck into your life!

We are thrilled to announce that the San Diego Hula Academy will be joining us again at our anniversary celebration! Founded in 2018, the academy has grown from a humble beginning of 600 square feet and a handful of students to a flourishing community. Representing the rich lineage of Lehua Kawaikapuokalani Hewett and Kūhai Hālau O Kawenaokalā’īokalani Pā ‘Ōlapa Kahiko, the academy offers a rich array of cultural performances including Hawaiian hula, Tahitian dance, ukulele, and Hawaiian music. We are honored to have them share their talents and cultural heritage with us on this special day.
